Adobe Photoshop CS3 Image Merge

The following tutorial will show how to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 Image Merge feature. This feature has a couple things it can possibly do. I will be demonstrating just one of them because it is less customizable. I find this feature great for when you want to make one picture look like it is a ghostly feature in the background of another image. Also you can just make an image attach to another image as if it was a real photo stack upon on another. You can truly do some cool things with this feature as you will see.

1. Open up Adobe Photoshop CS3

2. Click the following sequence, which begins at the top of the program. (File/Automate/Merge to HDR).

3. You will now see a place to select the photos you would like to merge. You can submit as many as you want.

4. Once you have finished adding your images press “OK” and another window will open. Sometimes images have some weird nuances. For mine I had to change the Exposure Time to a different selection from the default to get it to work in the end. To make the “OK” button show you have to look at each image by select the “>” button.

5. Once you select “OK” you will get an Merge to HDR window. The part you want to mess with is the graph you see at the right. At some point in the integration of the graph you see a good infraction point where both the images will see intertwined.

6. Once you have done this correctly press “OK”. You will see what you see below.

Image Merging is just one way for you to gain the effect of having a background. However, there is a more customizable way of doing this so the picture shows up anywhere in or around the image of choice. I have demonstrated this in my other tutorial Adobe Photoshop Photo Merge. If you are looking for how you can possibly learn about Adobe Photoshop or any other Adobe product there are some really good tutorial software programs that teach very well. Most of them provide video tutorials that take you step by step through every feature and process of within each product in detail. The possibility of getting lost or losing focus is minimal because you are in control of the rate of speed that you learn. I personally recommend Total Training because of its great information and detail. They are also a partner of Adobe. Digital Media Studios also has a very good series of products that may be a better solution for some individuals. Remember that with time you can unlock the Adobe Guru in you!

If you would like something that is a bit more contemporary, why not settle down and read a good book. This Adobe Photoshop CS3 is written by the Adobe Creative Team. It provides great information for learning the ins and outs of the program. If you have the mindset to read attentively, I personally recommend this book.
