Adobe Photoshop Glass Orb

Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 both have the capability to make an excellent glass orb to compliment your projects. Usually their are photoshop plugins that can help do this but I am going to show you another way to do this. You should start off by makingsize of orb that you would like to make. You can do this by selecting the shape button on the left side of the Adobe Photoshop interface. You should not think about the 3d image of this orb because it will be made over time. You can make the background of the orb anything that you would like. You can hold down the shift button to make sure that the cirlces are correct.

After you do this you have to do two things. First you must render the image in a eyeglass lens like shape by using the filter (lensflare). You can do this by clicking the filter tab/rendor/lensflare.

The Adobe Photoshop Lens Flare control panel will display. At this point you can change where the point of light contacts the orb. You can also change the brightness of the orb light. The lens type can be changed as well to your liking. This is an ability that is usually offered in another location.

After you do this you can use the Filter (Spherize) to provide the illusion of a 3d orb with the curvation fo the lensflare. You can reach this by going to the distort tab/distort/spherize.

This provides you with what seems like a good 3d orb. The spherize feature provides you ability to change the roundness of the orb. What you see below is the finished product.
